Wednesday Well-Baby/Well-Kid appt.

Wednesday,  07/18/12, we had the girls' check-ups

both wait patiently in their wee hospital gowns to see the doctor

Sydney:   Age 3
weight:  30.5 pounds  (approx. 50th percentile - she's added some weight)
height:  35.8 inches  (17th percentile - she's a shorty)

Sydney is apparently a perfectly normal kid and the doc has no concerns.   She did notice the bit of a jump in weight gain percentage.   But we are also now lowering her back down to 2% or Fat Free milk instead of whole milk (she's been on whole since we had to buy that for Annabelle and we didn't need a bajillion different varieties of milk hogging up space in the fridge)

Annabelle:   Age 17mo.  (close enough... 5 days shy)
weight:  24 pounds 7 oz  (approx. 50th %)
height:  31 inches (also right around the 50th %)
my perfectly average child.  LOL.
Growth-wise, Annabelle is right on track.   No concerns there.   The pediatrician is concerned about her lack of speech.   They want 6-10 words.   Annabelle has 3.   That she rarely uses... and she only recently got 2 of them DaDa and Baaa (ball).  Mama is the 3rd word.

Doc made brief question about if we had concerns about autism but quickly wanted to know how Annabelle is at communicating with us.   She put that line of thinking aside when we assured her that Annabelle makes it quite clear what she wants, and she has no trouble communicating her point to anyone without words.
Then there was question about her hearing.   We stated that we felt she could hear us fine.
The doc did go ahead and put in a referal to speech therapy for her.    I think I will wait a few weeks to call to see if she suddenly takes off.   She seem so on the cusp of talking.  Any day now.

can you tell which one doesn't want to be here?

when the doctor came in to see them, Annabelle did great and let the doc check her all out.   No shots needed until Mid-August (only one... Hep-A)
Sydney, on the other hand, screamed bloody murder when the doc wanted to check her out.   Even after seeing her sister be totally okay with it.    Also no shots.   Took 2 of us to hold her down enough for the doc to look in her ears.   Of course, once the exam was over, she was a polite little lady again.  Saying "Thank you, doctor, for checking me out".   LOL.

Also as always, we followed the appt with a visit to Farmer Boys for dinner.

Annabelle has mastered taking the straw out and sticking it back in

Sydney looking pensive.   You'd never tell that under 30min before she was in full on scream and panic mode.  Poor sweetheart.
