Memorial Day Weekend - Part 2: Saturday afternoon

All the fun stuff over at the Honda dealership was going on between 1-4pm.   We went over to pick up my car around 2ish.    Sydney spotted the pretty pink bounce house (jumper) right away, and was in it as fast as she could.   There were no other kids, so her and Annabelle had it to themselves.   I stayed with them, while D wandered over to get our In-N-Out burgers.    Annabelle really didn't last too long in the jumper.  She wanted out pretty quickly.

one of Sydney's favorite things!

bounce bounce bounce bounce

having trouble standing up

just the 2 of them.  Their own personal jumper!

she decided she'd rather not be in there with her spastic sister, Sydney.

Annabelle watches through the entry flap.
So, D wandered back over with ONE burger.   Said the lady told him you could only order 1.     So, I put him on "watch the girls" duty, and I wander to the end of the cul-de-sac.    As I'm in line (like a whole 2 people in line)... they put out orders with up to 4 burgers in one box.     I get up there and order 3.   No problem.

note: every holiday weekend

Sydney's first In-N-Out burger.   This child ate almost the whole thing!
Annabelle had a few bites of mine.
Then we get home around 3.   And it is naptime.   Super late naptime.    Cue Sydney meltdown, from the car... into the house... up to her room.   Ugh.    She screams that she's mad at me for making her leave the jumper.    I get that little kids really don't have logic, but a "Thank you for taking me to the jumper" will hopefully be in my future somewhere.     Dang.   This child had it to herself for almost a full hour!!   And then I get to deal with the tantrum.   Awesome!

But after her nap she was much better and we chatted later at bedtime about what a great day it had been.   Awwww... see now that's how it's supposed to be!

Memorial Day Weekend - Part 1: Saturday morning

Saturday morning started off nice and bright.   I took a nice long walk (2 loops around our neighborhood).   At the end of the first loop, a block up the street, a garage sale was being set up at 6am.   I scored an entryway table for $20.     (D and I had *just* been talking about getting one the week before).   It is lovely and great quality.    This sale was some 50something sons cleaning out their dads house after putting the old dude in a home.

We next dropped my car off at Hardin Honda for an oil change and my 50K minor service.   My service light came on the day before.   This was the best possible weekend for an oil change, because the dealer has the In-N-Out truck come give away free burgers on holiday weekends.    We'd also received a flyer about this in the mail (trying to get us to come in and buy a car) and the flyer stated there would also be bounce houses.    We planned to pick up the car after 1pm to get free lunch!

After returning home from dropping off my car, we walked up the street so D could see what else they had at that garage sale.   We scored a super nice coffee table (for our still not cleared/set up living room) for only $25.    The nice gentleman helped D carry it a full block down the street to our house, while I carried Annabelle and held Sydney's hand.

Once we were home again, it was time.   Time to assemble the Little Tikes playset that Kurt and Linda gave us since Kelly (at age 6) really had no interest in it.   They had it about 2 years.   It took D about 45min to get the whole thing up and ready.

the assembly begins - good thing I had emailed him a pic of it all set up off of Little Tikes website.   He neeeded that for reference

Annabelle waits patiently, doing the buckle on the backpack over and over and over

ALL DONE!    Isn't it a beauty?

At some point during this set up, it became overcast and chilly.   I had to go inside and get hoodies for the girls.   It was probably chilly enough for pants, but hoodies were close by and I would have had to go all the way upstairs for pants.

Annabelle giving me the "look" when I told her she couldn't climb up the big slide

She's ignoring me and still trying

Alrighty then.   Now she's got both feet off the ground.   Little Monkey

Can't remember why these 2 sat down... maybe daddy wasn't quite done adjusting the playset.   But I laugh at this picture - they look like 2 old bitties gossiping in their rockers at the old folks home.

Annabelle being very animated

"I will conquer this"

such a cutie-pie

Daddy helps Annabelle with the inaugural slide

Wheeeeeeee!

that was FUN!

A slide more her size

Sydney's turn!

here we go....

almost....

thunk!
we need to work on the landing.

crawling through the "tundle" (as she calls it)
After several more slides, Sydney got more and more confident/cocky and eventually wasn't holding on to slow herself quite as much as she was in the first few slides.   She ended up coming down pretty quick and slamming onto her tailbone resulting in a screamfest... and now she won't go down unless I am holding onto both of her hands.   Fine with me.  :)

Eclipse

As you can see, Annabelle and Sydney are getting closer to being the same size.  Annabelle is wearing 18mo.   Sydney wears 24mo and 2T in pants/shorts and dresses.    And can wear roomy 3Ts in tops and dresses.

eerie eclipse lighting

Annabelle getting her cardio in.   Laps around the front yard.

someone LOVES the sprinkler

I turned the sprinkler on, and Annabelle just walked right out into it.   Now it's a fight to keep her out of it.

Belly!

it's sprinkling!

DISNEYLAND!! (part 2 - 385 pics later...)

After breakfast, we headed next door to the Baby Care Center (I've been here before when I was, in their words, "an expressing mother").    I guess this place helps out with all things "baby".    We went there to change Sydney out of her Tinkerbell dress (I'm so glad I left the wings at home!) and into her Minnie Mouse shorts outfit.

love this signage above the toddler size potty in the Baby Care Center
And yes,  I carted our Princess Potty seat around all day.   Made bathroom trips SO much easier.   I did see one mother crazier than me:  she'd brought the entire portable baby potty and had her kid on it right in the middle of a bathroom.

Minnie Mouse outfit? Check!    "1st Visit" button?  Check!
we are changed and ready to go!

smiles to start our day right outside the Baby Care Center (and in front of the Corn Dog red truck)

not sure why she felt the need to hold onto her button - but its starting to look like she about to bust out in the Pledge of Allegiance  (and I'm almost positive I've spelled that wrong)

In line for our first ride of the day:  the Tomorrowland Rockets!

loaded and ready!

thanks to a tip from a man with a stroller - we found Ariel alone in Snow White's grotto next to the castle

look at that hair!

"I'm on a boat"    (first trip on Small World)
And it was right about this point, when the sun had burned off a while before and it was approaching noon, that I realize I didn't bring Sunblock.  Crap.   I seriously should ask other parents if they have any.   Because $16 for a little bottle?   Really Disney?    This is a necessity and they sure know it I guess.

waterfall watching in Toon Town.  She loves waterfalls!

Driving in Toon Town

Nana and I found this funny

Carousel!

such a  big girl!

after 2 tries (Mr. Toad and Alice) we quickly discovered that the indoor fantasyland rides were not her thing yet.  Too dark and scary.    She told me "outdoor rides, mommy."     Carousel and Teacups were good!

Sydney HAD to dip her fingers in this fountain at the Mexican restaurant next to Thunder Mountain

on the top deck of the Mark Twain

After riding the Mark Twain, we sat on the lower level of the Hungry Bear restaurant eating ice cream and waving as it went by again  (that right there looks like a postcard!)

Mickey Ice Cream!

Mickey Ice Cream is messy!  (thank God for baby wipes!)

I just love this pic - not really sure why

Obligatory pose in front of the casle.   A requirement.
(darn, her shrit is tucked in funny)

Picturesque

jumping in front of the castle - apparently ALSO a requirement.

Love this.   Castle.  Minnie.  Sydney

Chip & Dale + Sydney

Donald Duck + Sydney

Walt/Mickey statue

Yep, I chopped off Walt's head

my sweetheart

The bubble-gun Nana bought was 100% a hit!

Chesire Kitty (on the side of the Alice ride - I don't remember this being there in the past, it's either new or I'm blind)

Lots of pics inside Small World from our 3rd go-round in it:

Nana thinks this one looks like Sydney (except she needs curlier hair)

6pm and we are camped out on the curb for the 7pm parade

This sad sad Minnie balloon that we've had since 8am = a smudgy mess!

Sydney still likes to let her balloons go and watch as they fly away.

waiting on a parade

MICKEY!    (this is what Syd screamed when she saw him on the float)

Super excited face while frantically waving at Mickey.  Yes, I was bawling at this point

More excitement seeing the Princesses coming on their float (yep, still bawling)

Cinderella gave a special little wave to my Buggy

and this face means she sees Tinkerbell a'coming

We still love Tink
After the Parade, it was somewhere around 7:30pm.   Bedtime-ish.   Sydney wanted to go back to Small World and also back on the rockets.   Nope.  Cue Meltdown.    We were those people who pack up and leave after the parade (we used to be the people who looked forward to all the families leaving at this point - now were one of them).    And I'm sure not unknown around those parts... we were leaving with a tantruming toddler.     They REALLY need to put the stroller rental near the tram - not on the far opposite side.    I mean, I could have just dumped the stroller whereever - my info thingy said they pick up strollers that are abandoned in the plaza area between the 2 parks... but I was being all considerate returning it to the rental hut.    Next time, I'm abandoning it right by the tram - no more carrying 30 pounds of screaming toddler that distance again.

Waaaaaaaa!   I don't wanna go home!
She was completely zonked out in the carseat within minutes of leaving - which is also within minutes of returning home.  LOL.
