Weeks 2 and 3

here are a few of the happenings from the 2nd and 3rd week of Buggy's life.

A sweet snoozy moment with daddy:

Miss Sydney received a fun bouncy chair from Aunt Louise. Thank you Aunt Louise!

The following is what happens when mommy leaves the room. Daddy finds it cute to tuck the little one into a big people bed. Needless to say, she didn't seem to like it at first.

then, she seems to be pondering the situation:

When Buggy was 11 days old, I figured I better take a pic for her birth announcements. I had always envisioned a pic of a sleeping curled up baby on it's tummy wearing only a bow tied around it's middle. So, one morning I give it a try. I put the fuzzy blanket that Erika gave me for my bridal shower on the daybed, and Dana helped me get Sydney undressed, undiapered and "posed". Although one problem was that she was not asleep. Oh well. We went with it anyway. After taking a few pictures, we picked her up to discover that she had decided to pee all over the blanket - which subsequently soaked through all the bedding of the daybed also. Note to self: If I ever attempt a naked pose again, I will need to remember to put a chucks pad down underneath first.
This is one of the trial pics:

and this is the one we used on the announcements. She's not asleep like I ultimately would have liked, but she does have her signature "worried" look.

A couple pics of Miss Sydney at 17 days old on July 31st. This was the outfit she wore home from the hospital that was HUGE on her then. It was my favorite outfit in that it's my fave colors of pink and yellow, and it has flip flops on it. When I saw it in the store before she was born, I knew it was perfect for her (well, at least perfect for me). She outgrew it by the 17th of August.

August 1st was my 20 year HS reunion. Needless to say having a 16 day old newborn, I did not attend. Not to mention that it was 2+ hours away in excessively hot Palm Springs. However, I did attend the "family" picnic day the next day at the local park in Yucaipa, just up the road from my old High School. I was very happy to meet up with 2 old great friends. Trisha, who was with her husband and 2 children visiting from Washington state. And Vickie, who has remained local and was attending with one of her 2 boys and her beautiful dog.
This was Miss Sydney's first big adventure. She was quite the little charmer. Well, really she slept most of the time in the bassinet of her stroller, but she did wake up for daddy to feed her a bottle of breastmilk (no way was I ready to attempt nursing in public yet).
Here is daddy holding Buggy to show off her fashion choice of the day. A lovely little spaghetti strap onesie in red and white with a flirty little ruffle.

Here is Trisha saying hello to the Buggy, with Vickie looking over. Such a sweet picture. (Trisha's parents at the table in the background. Hi Debbie and John!)

Me and the girls - Aug 2009:

Me and the girls (Homecoming, Oct 1989): I am the shortest in white (3rd one). Trish and Vickie are the 2 middle blue ones. That's some big hair Vickie had!

On Aug 3rd, she had her first "well baby" appt. at 2 weeks and 6 days old. Her weight at 7lb, 11 oz was in the 20th percentile. I guess that means that 80% of babies her age are heavier than her. Her length at 20 and 3/4 inches was in the thirty-something percentile. However the diameter of her head was exactly at the 50th percentile. So I guess she is shorter and skinnier than other babies, but has the same size head. Other than that, the doctor was impressed by how strong she was and how she was trying to roll over already. The doc told her that that is a 4 month old milestone. And our little one is still the overachiever!
