Sick week at home cuteness

Monday I had off work for MLK day. So I kept Buggy home with me. Turns out I should have taken her to daycare for a few hours and gotten a good nap in. Little did I know that the week was going to be a long one at home with a sick, cranky baby.

Tuesday we woke up and the Bug was clearly sick. Took her in to Kaiser. Diagnosis: Upper Respiratory Infection. Care: Humidifier, suck the boogies out with Bulb Syringe, and watch out for fever or trouble breathing. Was told she'd be contagious for "a few days", but that it could take several weeks for her to fully back to normal. Planned to keep her out of daycare on Wednesday too.

Wednesday, the Bug seemed improved. Still full of snot and coughing, but more energetic like her usual self. I figured she was feeling better - and reinforced my plan to take her to daycare on Thursday. So, on our day at home on Wednesday, Buggy and I had a lot of playtime together, and since I was home, that means lots more Buggy pics!!

Thursday, I woke up at 5am.. in order to get Bug and I out the door at a good time. Nursed the Bug, and realized she was worse. Her cold seemed to be back to the level of the first day. Decided to keep her home one more day to hopefully help her get over it. Thursday she spent most of the day alternating between happy and uber-cranky. Since we were home again - the camera was out in full force:

And then we tried self portraits. This was more difficult than I expected with a squirmy baby (and why does my nose look so huge? I asked D if my nose gained weight since I've put on a couple pounds... he said no - good man)
and here is one I played with in Picnik.com:

And since I am slowly working on taking off the recent weight I've gained, here is a pic of my lunch everyday while at home. Actually, during the workweek this is usually breakfast at my desk. Chicken broth with lots of snap peas, mushrooms, various other veggies and spicy sauces.

So after surviving Thursday, I had every intention of getting her to daycare (since we'd already paid our $300 for the week), and getting myself to work. Woke up 5am again on Friday. Nursed the Bug, and realized that now she was wheezing. Wheezing enough for me to easily hear and become concerned. Poor Bug. I called Kaiser and got a 9am appt with her pediatrician.
After a week long of massive amounts of rain, I lucked out that when I had to take Bug in, it was clear for a moment - there was actually sun.
Our visit with Dr. R was interesting. She definitely heard the wheezing. But said her pulse-ox (?) was still good at 98% - even though it had been 100% on Tuesday. We were sent for a Buggy chest xray. I got the job of holding bug still on a cold xray table. The xray tech guy even asked me if there was any chance I could be pregnant. I almost laughed out loud, but could only manage a "Ummmmmm....." while thinking it was highly highly highly doubtful. I got to wear the heavy apron thing anyway.
Her xrays showed slight cloudiness in her chest. Dr.R told us we'd be staying for a breathing treatment. That was fun. I got to be alone in the room, holding Bug still, trying to hold the mask over her nose and mouth to get the medicine vapors in, while she screamed bloody-murder the entire 10 minutes. OMG. Poor baby. When the thing ran out of steam I turned it off and just held Buggy tight against my chest while she sucked her thumb trying to calm down. She fell asleep like that before the Doc came back and we were sent to the pharmacy for an inhaler. Dr.R said to really watch her for increased wheezing and any fever as she was now at higher risk of catching pneumonia.
By the time all was said and done, this visit including wait at the pharm took almost 3 full hours. And by the time we left it was pouring and of course my car was WAY out in the far side of the parking lot. I managed to keep Bug dry, but I got soaked. It's fun dealing with stroller, carseat, diaper bag, keys, bag of meds, etc... trying to get it all loaded in the car as efficiently as possible while getting poured on.
All in all, we now had seen our Pediatrician 3 x's in 8 days. Way to go us!
