Memorial Day Weekend - Part 1: Saturday morning

Saturday morning started off nice and bright.   I took a nice long walk (2 loops around our neighborhood).   At the end of the first loop, a block up the street, a garage sale was being set up at 6am.   I scored an entryway table for $20.     (D and I had *just* been talking about getting one the week before).   It is lovely and great quality.    This sale was some 50something sons cleaning out their dads house after putting the old dude in a home.

We next dropped my car off at Hardin Honda for an oil change and my 50K minor service.   My service light came on the day before.   This was the best possible weekend for an oil change, because the dealer has the In-N-Out truck come give away free burgers on holiday weekends.    We'd also received a flyer about this in the mail (trying to get us to come in and buy a car) and the flyer stated there would also be bounce houses.    We planned to pick up the car after 1pm to get free lunch!

After returning home from dropping off my car, we walked up the street so D could see what else they had at that garage sale.   We scored a super nice coffee table (for our still not cleared/set up living room) for only $25.    The nice gentleman helped D carry it a full block down the street to our house, while I carried Annabelle and held Sydney's hand.

Once we were home again, it was time.   Time to assemble the Little Tikes playset that Kurt and Linda gave us since Kelly (at age 6) really had no interest in it.   They had it about 2 years.   It took D about 45min to get the whole thing up and ready.

the assembly begins - good thing I had emailed him a pic of it all set up off of Little Tikes website.   He neeeded that for reference

Annabelle waits patiently, doing the buckle on the backpack over and over and over

ALL DONE!    Isn't it a beauty?

At some point during this set up, it became overcast and chilly.   I had to go inside and get hoodies for the girls.   It was probably chilly enough for pants, but hoodies were close by and I would have had to go all the way upstairs for pants.

Annabelle giving me the "look" when I told her she couldn't climb up the big slide

She's ignoring me and still trying

Alrighty then.   Now she's got both feet off the ground.   Little Monkey

Can't remember why these 2 sat down... maybe daddy wasn't quite done adjusting the playset.   But I laugh at this picture - they look like 2 old bitties gossiping in their rockers at the old folks home.

Annabelle being very animated

such a cutie-pie

Daddy helps Annabelle with the inaugural slide

Wheeeeeeee!

that was FUN!

A slide more her size

Sydney's turn!

here we go....

almost....

thunk!
we need to work on the landing.

crawling through the "tundle" (as she calls it)
After several more slides, Sydney got more and more confident/cocky and eventually wasn't holding on to slow herself quite as much as she was in the first few slides.   She ended up coming down pretty quick and slamming onto her tailbone resulting in a screamfest... and now she won't go down unless I am holding onto both of her hands.   Fine with me.  :)
